Fort Bridger Rondesvous

Have you ever experienced a Mountain Man Rondesvous? 10 years ago when my husband first took me, I thought he was completely crazy. Men and women dress up in clothing appropriate at the time of the fur trappers and traders - and spend a weekend together trading or selling items... and just enjoy stepping back in time to a more simple life style. If you haven't had the opportunity to attend a Rondesvous, I highly recommend it!!

The decision is made!

A big thank-you to all of those who helped me decide on my state fair entries! It was a tough decision. For me, all of my photos are something I have created, and I would enter them all if I could. This year I have decided to enter All Around Beauty, Spider's Cradle and Fall in to Sunset. I feel like those three really define abilities - and show my artistic eye.
This has been such a huge undertaking for me. For those of you who know me well, you know I do not usually take what others might consider "risks". I love photography, and usually share it with a few close friends, not the whole world. It has been a scary decision for me to put my work where others will be able to criticize and judge it. The lesson in all of this for me is not to take what others say so personally. That, in itself, is a huge challenge!
I would love to sell my work. I am currently seeking a way to put images on line that people can order from me. Wow, this will be an adventure!

Printing Fall in to sunset didn't work well, so I entered a different mountain picture... Cliffs of Fire. Picture included today!

State fair photo entries

Welcome to my blog! This is new to me, and seems like it will be a lot of fun!
I have decided to enter the Utah State Fair photography contest. I am only allowed to enter 3 photographs, and as you can imagine, it's quite the task deciding which ones I should enter. I would really like your opinion on the photos below... and a vote. Let me know your favorites! I will announce the photos I will be entering by the 18th of August, so vote soon! Thank you for your help!

The categories I am considering entering are:
Nature with the hand of man (wagon wheel, glass ball)
Scenic nature
Artistically manipulated
Human interest
Macro

Also, if you feel you have a better title for a photo, please let me know.

I look forward to your feedback !

Brittany!

All around beauty

A look in to a crystal ball - a new perspective on Kolob Canyon.

Rolling back time

Reflecting on the past - yet ever present. This scene captured my eye as I reflected on the history of where that wagon wheel may have been, the stories it could tell me...

Water tree

This photo is artisticall manipulated - a splash in the middle of a river.

Fall in to sunset

A beautiful fall sunset at Kolob Canyon, Zion National Park.

Ultimate Sacrifice

Every now and then, we are reminded that freedom is a fragile blessing we enjoy. Many families pay the ultimate sacrifice in order for us to remain free.

Spider's Cradle

A unique perspective on nature. Not too many people stop and take the time to notice the small things around us.
